ASL Airlines Belgium plans to serve ten destinations from Antwerp

Some 147,000 passengers passed through Antwerp airport last year, almost double compared to the 88,000 recorded during the “coronavirus” year of 2020. Despite this still timid recovery, the management is confident in the to come up. Deurne airport was again strongly affected by the measures intended to curb the spread of the virus. Non-essential travel abroad was indeed still prohibited until April. The first TUI fly flights to Spain only resumed at the end of April. The first six months of the year thus saw only 39,000 passengers passing through the Antwerp tarmac.

The summer experienced a good recovery with 61,000 passengers in July, August and September. “This is an increase of 114% compared to the same period in 2020”, explains CEO Eric Dumas. This revival was confirmed in the autumn, but remained limited in particular due to the closure of the borders, decided by the Moroccan authorities.

The good news comes from the business segment since, in June, thefts were as numerous there as in June 2019 and an increase of 6% was even noted from the summer holidays.

In 2022, TUI fly should in principle again offer 10 destinations from Antwerp. For its part, ASL Fly Executive will operate two weekly flights to Innsbruck between January 15 and the end of March.
